Yes, it is very clear from the poem that Tagore believed in God, as he prays to the Almighty to uplift hid country to a Heaven of Freedom where people would be fearless, knowledgeable, logical, truthful, hard-working and broadminded.

To that heaven of freedom, my father, let my country awake.
