Yes, I like the way the poem ‘Small Pain in My Chest’ ends with the soldier boy’s death and the narrator’s grief expressed the perfect way. In fact, the last line of the poem ‘The large one in my heart against the small one in his chest‘ is so beautifully written and well-thought that it truly arouses the pity of war in the readers’ minds. That is what the poet wanted and he is successful at it. In short, the ending of the poem has greatly contributed to the anti-war message of the poem and hence a perfect one.
