Why was the doctor panic stricken in Vikram Seth’s poem A Doctor’s Journal Entry for August 6, 1945?
The doctor was panic stricken when he didn’t get any response from his wife after he called out for her for the first time. An explosion occurred in an otherwise fine morning. So, the narrator was shocked at the suddenness of the happenings. He was wondering about what might have stricken him. And in the middle of that he suddenly remembered his wife and shouted for her, but there was no reply. So he got afraid that his wife Yecko-San might have suffered a greater injury. That is why he got panic-stricken and called out again by her name.
