In the poem ‘Where the mind is without fear’ from what darkness does the poet want his countrymen to wake?

According to the poet in ‘Where the Mind is Without Fear’ by Rabindranath Tagore, our nation should be awakened from the darkness of fear, ignorance, prejudices, disunity, laziness, falsehood and other social evils to a state where freedom would be felt at its best.

The poet addressed the poem to the God. He asks him to awake his countrymen from the darkness of ignorance , prejudices and all other evils and led them to the heaven.
