Tagore was really worried about the future of his country. And he went on to write this poem in the form of a prayer to the Almighty to lift his nation to a ‘heaven of freedom’. So we can say that the poem is in a reflective mood, where the poet has become thoughtful and philosophical. The free verse pattern, the long single complex sentence, and the use of metaphors all contribute to that serious tone of the poem.
