In the story “A Horse and Two Goats”, what local gossip did Muni indulge in? Why was the shopkeeper pleased with the gossip?
In R. K. Narayan’s short story “A Horse and Two Goats” Muni indulged in the gossip that the local postman’s wife had eloped with someone else to the city a few months ago.
The shopkeeper had some kind of enmity with the postman as he had once cheated him. That is why he felt intense pleasure knowing something bad happened to the postman.
But in the story the only conversation muni had with the shopkeeper was about convincing him to let muni buy some things on debt .
The story in the ICSE text book “Treasure Trove” is an edited version. The above is written in the original text.
