According to the poet Roald Dahl, the children are almost hypnotised by the television. He has seen them gaping at the screen and sloping about. They stare at it until their eyes are tired and until they are almost drunk. This is how the TV keeps the children still without allowing them to fight, kick, punch or climb out the window sill.
