In Brucellish Sangma’s poem I Believe what is the effect the poet brings through the hyperbolic language?
Sangma’s poem ‘I Believe’ is full of hyperbolic language or exaggerated statements. When she talks about piercing the heavens, seeing angels at play, touching the clouds, swimming with sharks and clawing into the earth’s belly, she definitely exaggerates her beliefs.
But these hyperbolic languages are used to convey her message that a human being has endless possibilities, unlimited potential to achieve great heights in life. Sometimes people actually reach positions that were once beyond their imagination. So, everything is possible in this life. We have to believe in that potential and work hard.
