Why does Maya Angelou repeat the lines “his wings are clipped and his feet are tied” in her poem “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”?

The poet repeats the above quoted lines to emphasize the distress of the caged bird, to remind us of the confined state he is in. This is to create a sharp contrast with the freedom and enjoyment of the free bird.
